Introducing Ron Sterud-Your HB Community Champion
My name is Ron Sterud and I am running for Huntington Beach City Council on November 6th, 2018. I’d like to introduce myself and share with you who I am and why I am running.
I am a 3rd generation Huntington Beach resident and 2nd generation native. My Grandfather first arrived in Huntington Beach in 1915 before leaving to serve in the Army during WWI. After the war, my grandfather returned to Huntington Beach and built their family home on 10th Street and raised his family working as a plumber.
I attended College View and Spring View and am a graduate of Marina High School. I also attended Golden West College and UC Riverside. While in college, I discovered my career in Financial Planning. I was promoted to a Vice President position at the age of 28 working for American Express Financial Advisors. After 9 years with American Express, I launched my own firm and built my business in Huntington Beach. I’ve been successfully serving clients in the area of financial planning for over three decades.
Active in the community, I was appointed and serve as Vice Chair of the city’s Finance Committee by Councilwoman Lyn Semeta. Previously, I had served as former Mayor Dave Sullivan’s appointment on the Investment Advisory Board. My wife Krista and I completed the CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program and served as advocates for children in the foster care system. We both volunteer for various local charities, including the Assistance League of Huntington Beach as well as served as a soccer coach with AYSO (region 56). Krista and I met in 1992 and were married in 1996. We live in beautiful downtown Huntington Beach with our two dogs Missy and Coco. We are active in our church and are committed to serving our community.
As a financial planner, I have been outspoken on the path forward as our city faces many budget issues in the coming years. My proven record as a financial planner makes me the right leader to solve these challenges. I am deeply rooted in Huntington Beach’s past and committed to preserving our suburban beach community. I’ve heard HB referred to as “Mayberry by the Sea” and I am very proud that we can enjoy the special qualities where neighbors still know their neighbors; families and friends gather for 4th of July celebrations on our beach, downtown, in parks and neighborhoods. I am 100% committed to maintaining our seaside treasure and as your Community Champion I will:
Represent Residents – Not Special Interests
Continue Fighting High Density Development
Address Homeless and Sober Living Home Issues
Protect your Tax Dollars from Wasteful Spending
Let’s win this together!
